Beone is a fantastic Italian restaurant and one of my favorite restaurants of all time. From the grilled vegetables served with a garlic olive oil sauce to the pizza fresh from the wood fired pizza oven to the flavorful pasta dishes, this is a win on all fronts. (Just looking at the photos makes me want to go there for dinner tonight.) This is a great place for a romantic dinner date or slow dinner with an old friend. You can easily polish off a bottle of wine and forget the time in this dimly lit hole in the wall designed with exposed brick.
This restaurant is off the beaten path and not the easiest place to find. Been is located on Miyakodorinot which is relatively close to Kagoshima Chuo station but the only indication that you’ve found it is a small door with a sign. You absolutely have to make a reservation to eat here because it’s a small, intimate, and very popular dinner spot. (I’m not sure how many times I’ve called in and the restaurant was fully booked for the night.)
A lot of the options have bacon, prosciutto, or other Italian meats, but there are also non-meat options on the menu. If you’re ordering dinner without drinks, you can expect to spend around 2,000 JPY per person, with drinks, substantially more. I highly recommend the pizza. It’s absolutely phenomenal.
